| Y. C. Halan, a Senior Fulbright Fellow, is a Member of the Press Council of India.
He has a doctorate in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
He was associated with Duncan Goenka Group as Business Advisor. He was on the Governing Bodies of Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management at New Delhi and Bareilly (1995-2008) and also the Chairman of the Advisory Council.
He was Director on the Board of the American Studies Research Center, Hyderabad and on its Executive Committee. He was a member of the Governor Bodies of Deshbandhu College, Kalindi College and College for Vocational Studies of the University of Delhi.
He was Delhi Editor of The Financial Express, Editor of Enhance and HT Investor (Hindustan Times), Times of Times of India and Correspondent of Chronicle of Higher Education, Washington D.C. (USA). He is a member of the Academic Council (Senate) of Sri Sharda Institute of Indian Management-Research, New Delhi.
Dr. Halan was an Independent Director on the Board of KRIBCO Shyam Fertilizer Ltd. He is on the Governing Bodies of Delhi Public Schools at Jamshedpur, Rewari, Nigashi and Vidhyanagar.
He has written four books on management
Managing Persons, Managing Leadership, Managing Time, Managing Sale (Sterling), and one book on personality development The Success System How to Hit Bulls Eye (Malaysian Insurance Institute, Kuala Lumpur and Sterling). His other book is Poverty in the U.S.A.
A study of an economically depressed area - The Appalachian region (Surjeet). He edited Development Planning and Policy (Wiley Eastern) and ORF Statistical Handbook (Rupa).
He made contributions to making news - Handbook of the Media in Contemporary India, edited by Udai Sahai (Oxford), Minorities of India, Problems & Prospects edited by M A Jawaid, K N Jehangir and Shankar Bose (Manak) and The New Economy,Strategic Implications for Business Organisations edited by Manmohan Bakaya and Asha Tiwari (New Concepts)
